Nothing in life happens suddenly. There are signs before and after every event… The Creator has prepared us for both pleasant and unpleasant events with signs sent in advance. This is so that we do not encounter them suddenly and experience shock or trauma. He has also left traces at the end of every event so that we may learn lessons. Despite knowing that humanity would ignore the signs and traces that do not align with its desires, the Creator has shown us His greatness.
How difficult it would be to get used to pain without these signs, wouldn’t it? Or how easy it would be to forget the hardships we’ve experienced without these traces…
Sometimes we can see the signs of events, and sometimes we cannot. Even the ones we can see are acts of mercy, as are the ones that are deliberately hidden from us. Even if the sign of impending pain prepares us for it, is it easy to get used to pain knowingly?
If you heard from a doctor that the death of your loved one was approaching, would your pain lessen? If you understood the signs of their impending death, how calmly would you prepare for their absence? Answering every ringing phone wondering if they’re dead, reading every message with a heavy heart. Planning how to live and endure if they die before their time. Moreover, the one making the plans doesn’t know whether their loved one or themselves will die first.
People chase after what they don’t know.
Yet, when we are born, we are not told when we will die. Besides, if we knew, how could we live? How could we joke with our friends if we knew it would be the last time? How could we stay away from our mother, knowing how much we would miss her after she died? How could we marry, knowing that our spouse would bury us? How could one become a mother, knowing in advance that she would leave her little daughter behind?
It is a good thing that people do not know the time of their own death or that of their loved ones. If they were to pursue what is not revealed to them, death would be experienced not just one day, but every day.
What if we knew our joys in advance? Would she have worked so eagerly if she had known she would get into university? Would she have rejoiced if she had known in advance, or would the joy of sharing it with her loved ones have been diminished? Could a person endure poverty if they knew they would become rich? Would they be grateful for a single bite, knowing that ten more bites await them in the future?
People chase after what they don’t know. Sometimes they seek answers in their dreams, sometimes in a coffee cup.
If only they knew that what is not revealed to them is out of mercy…
If only they knew how much even the signs can hurt…
Would they still chase after what they don’t know?
